"The wise men traveled a long distance. It was too far for them to walk so they rode on camels.
Camels are the common beasts of burden for people who live on the desert or who travel across the desert. They move more rapidly than other desert animals and can travel longer distances without water. They usually keep up a steady pace while walking or running over the desert sand.
The wise men, in making their long journey in search of Jesus, rode on camels because they knew they could be depended upon to get them to Bethlehem.
As we make our way toward Christmas, it is important for us, too, to select those things and to make those preparations which can be depended upon, so that we may arrive at the real meaning of Christmas."
