"Hay is one of the foods which is given to some of the stable animals. It is often placed in a manger, a box with wooden legs. Hay is grass which is cut out in the fields, and when it is dry, it is brought into the stable.
We feel quite sure that the innkeeper in Bethlehem must have had plenty of hay in the manger on this very important evening."
