"The trip from Nazareth of Galilee to Bethlehem of Judea was too long a journey for Mary to walk. It is believed that she rode on the back of a donkey.
Though the donkey had no way of really knowing what this trip to Bethlehem was all about, we like to believe that he was very careful with every step he took. Sometimes these so-called "dumb" animals have a way of sensing the care and love of human beings."
