Some Christmas Day shots....

Uncle Josh and Aunt Bethany via webcam

Adeline entertained us by playing Rudolph the red nosed reindeer and singing at the same time on the piano. She is a big fan of Burl Ives.

We've turned a corner...

Adeline is finally starting to act like herself. Her voice is a little horse (which is pretty cute) but she is definitely feeling better.

Tonight James and I decided to go along with our original plans of having his parents watch Adeline here at the house and we would go out and spend the New Year with friends. We changed our plans a little and went to see a movie before we headed to our friends house. It was really nice to just be out, get some fresh air, and spend some time together. We saw Seven Pounds which we thought was really good. If you are wanting to see it just make sure to wear water proof mascara and bring lots of tissues. I cried pretty much the whole time and for quite a while afterwards:-) We then spent the rest of the evening at the Corbin's enjoying everyones company. It was so nice to see everyone and spend some quality time together without any little ones running around. We REALLY enjoyed ourselves.

Happy New Year!

Glad to be home....

Ummmm. Where to begin? Let's see....what have we been doing the last six days?

Caring for a sick child.

Staying up all night trying to console a coughing child.

Sitting on the couch holding your child (because she will not go to anyone else)

Trying to reduce your child's fever.

Trying to get your child to eat/drink something.

Cleaning up vomit and diarrhea

After waiting five days trying Vick's, a vaporizer, steamy bathroom, Motrin, and special coughing suckers I had enough. She had just vomited once again and I felt as though she was probably dehydrated and I wanted answers. Unfortunately we didn't really get any answers. After about four hours in the ER all of her tests came back looking good. She was dehydrated though so she did receive an IV but that didn't even perk her up like we were hoping.
So we are home now. Trying to recuperate. It is nice that Adeline is old enough to talk to. I don't have to try to figure out what hurts, she tells me. I am already seeing a difference in Adeline as she is getting a lot of rest. Sometimes being in your own home can bring about some extra comfort.

Starting our own Christmas traditions....

Every year we travel back home to celebrate Christmas Eve with my Grand Parents and then Christmas Day with James' family. Now that Adeline is getting older we are wanting to start our own traditions. It wouldn't make sense to drive down for Christmas Eve then back home and then back to Olivet for Christmas day. So this year we decided to celebrate our Christmas on Monday since James had the day off. It was a very special day. We were very busy all day opening presents, going to see Santa, eating lunch and dinner out, shopping, playing with Adeline's new toys, making/decorating cookies, and enjoying each others company. Here are some snapshots....

Adeline was really excited about seeing Santa but when we got to him he didn't fulfill our expectations. He didn't talk to her, he was just focused on getting her on his lap smiling for the picture and then moving on to the next child. She didn't cry, scream, or try to get up....she was just sad. As Adeline put it afterwards..."Santa didn't say Ho, Ho, Ho" And I thought to myself "He didn't say anything, what a grumpy Santa"

Forget Santa...Daddy's lap is much more comfortable.

Adeline's ABC's

It has been so hard to get Adeline on video saying her ABC's, counting to 15 in English and counting to 10 in Spanish. She has been able to do this since before she was two. But she only does it when and where she wants to. And we always seem to be too far from the camera to catch it. We finally had success this morning. First while reading one of her Elmo books she recited the entire alphabet without missing one letter and then after opening up a Christmas present of flash cards she said them again. We think she is pretty smart.

34 weeks...

Okay....now I am starting to feel pregnant. I am tired all the time and am finding it hard to move around. No swelling as of yet...(thank you Jesus), and I am still behind Adeline's pregnancy weight (but catching up). There are still six weeks left to go, two of which are holiday weeks. We'll see what happens.

Imagination

I love watching/hearing Adeline's imagination grow. The way she talks with her toys and reads all of her books. The questions she asks James and I, and the new things she says every day.

Today was no exception when we went to Norton Pines to swim in the pool. The entire time we were there we pretended to be mermaids. She was mermaid Adeline and I was mermaid Mommy. We had to make sure to keep our tails in the water so they wouldn't get dry. Eventually she became Ariel and I was Eric. We enjoyed our time together.

And a bonus.....Adeline isn't so heavy in the water. If only we were really mermaids:-)

Memorable Potty Conversations

My favorite....."I's (pronounced eyes) close mine eyes" This is what she says when she has to go poo-poo. She covers her eyes with her hands and focuses on what needs to be done. Sometimes peaking through her fingers to see what I am doing.

Passing gas is always a regular occurrence on the potty. After staying with Nana and we were back home she let out a big toot and said "That was a big fluffer" "I's tell Nana"....for girls they are called fluffers and for boys they are called farts.

When I know she is done on the potty I ask her if she is ready to get off and she always says..."Almost Mommy", then we wait another couple of minutes and replay the same thing.

"Bye-bye poo-poo" said while we watch the poo-poo go down the toilet.

Adeline just amazes me. She has gone an entire week in panties with only one accident. And that counts being dry every night. She also spent the night with her Nana and had no accidents. I still know that accidents will happen but I am so proud of how she is doing.

Harry Connick Jr.

For the last month or so James has been getting mail from the "Official" Harry Connick Jr. Fan Club. Not once did I think He was planning on surprising me with a trip to Chicago and a Christmas concert. Tuesday night he told me that we would be leaving the next morning, dropping Adeline off at Nana's, and then going to Chicago for the night. I was very surprised.
Now neither of us are really "Big" Harry Connick fans but the idea of something different, in Chicago, Christmas related, and just the two of us sounded fun. And it was. The show was great, and the Big Band was amazing. We both loved it.
Thanks Baby for a wonderful night. I love you.

"Great job Mommy"

Adeline has successfully moved from Pull-Up's to panties. She has done an unbelievable job and is dry all through the night. Now....she isn't fully to the point of always recognizing when she has to go but she always goes when we sit her down and has not had an accident during the day in over a week. We have been hard at work for about a month now and she has definitely enjoyed the sugar buzz off M&M's.
Yesterday I sat on the potty after Adeline. While I started to pee, she(sitting on her stool) says "Great job Mommy". And I received some M&M's as well. I must admit I took more than two.

"Hello Tare-dee" (Charity)

One of todays many conversations...

A-"I love Daddy"

C-"You love Daddy."

A-"Yes, he's handsome"

C-"He is handsome"

A-"after nap we make cookies for Daddy?"

C-"that's right, we'll make cookies for Daddy."

A-"then Daddy come home"

C-"yes, Daddy will come home."

A-"then we eat cookies as a family"

C-"yes, we will eat cookies as a family"

Decorating the tree....

Candid weekend shots....

Adeline was quick to ask for toys as soon as we got to Grandpa and Grandma's house. Grandma Kay was very eager to play. They really missed each other.
New toys came out this time. Including Aunt Erin and Aunt Betsey's barbie collection.
Uncle Josh was very intentional with Adeline. They had a lot of fun as long as Uncle Josh did exactly what Adeline told him to.

I just learned (thanks to Bethany) how to set our timer on our camera.
We tried to play Euchre with Josh and Bethany but someone woke up early from their nap. We'll have to play again next time.
A nice shot right before we left.

Picking out the Christmas Tree....

Sunday we headed down to Olivet to pick out the Bean family Christmas tree. Uncle Josh and Aunt Bethany will not be able to make it to Christmas this year (something about a baby) so this was our time to spend with them. James was able to take both days off which made it much more enjoyable.
We were out in the snow for close to an hour. I wasn't sure if we would have to hold Adeline or not, instead she played in the snow the entire time and loved it.
