Hair Doo's

If I had two girls I would be dressing them alike and doing their hair the same all the time.  This was really fun for me to do both Adeline and Brooklynn's hair the same.  They both seemed to like it too.

Brooke did end up with a blue flower in her hair just like the purple one but I didn't get a picture of it.

At least she's painting them black....

And I'm not sure why but right away Andrew got his toenails painted by Aunt Betsey.  I made sure that it was a manly color like black :)

"You're going to have a dang good weekend"

We were asked by James' parents to come down to Olivet for Memorial Day weekend because there was going to be a surprise.  From the time we left Florida until now James and I have been trying to figure out what the surprise was.  I even asked Betsey while skyping if she was the surprise and if she was coming back and her response was "I wish I could".  We ruled her out based on that until......I was emailing her the night before and she said she couldn't talk.  And then when pressing her about what the surprise was (because she told me that her mom told her) she said....."I'm not going to tell you what it is but I will tell you that you are going to have a dang good weekend".
And then after talking to James' mom who told me that Joanne was going to be in town and wanted to see the kids and also wanted Tim's pizza I was very suspicious.  Why wouldn't Joanne call me?  And why order Tim's Pizza if she is just passing through.  Then James called Betsey and oddly she answered her phone during the work day.  All James said was "Ah-hah!"
Yup!  It's Betsey!
And this little lady was overjoyed when we pulled into the driveway and saw our surprise.
I have a feeling that this is going to be the year of goofy pictures with Andrew.

Adeline's Field Day

I'm so thankful that Daddy had the day off so that I could come to Adeline's field day.  I found myself remembering these days as a kid and getting very excited for this day to get here.
The kids started with a tug of war which Adeline's side won each time until I stepped in on the losing side to help them gain a victory.  What can I say, I'm pretty strong.

We then moved on to the obstacle course.  The fifth graders were putting on the field day and before each event they would explain what you needed to do.  The fifth graders talked so fast and quiet that Mrs. Coffin always had to ask them to repeat and talk slower.

My sweet Adeline.
I want to start doing this with the kids.  We always have dance parties at our house but with this each time you stop the music you have to freeze.  It looked pretty fun and Adeline really enjoyed it.

Let's end the time outside with some limbo and fun music!

Inside the kids got a fun treat while they cooled off.
I'm so glad I get to share these moments with Adeline.

Girl's Night!

James earned major points by watching four kids while Cindy and I went out.  Thank you James for being a great Husband, Father and Friend.  We really had a good time and by the looks of it so did you guys.

Adeline's Soccer Game 5-19-12

Watching Adeline play soccer is such a treat for me.  I am very proud of her.  As many of you know I am pretty competitive and when watching her play I am always shouting out orders hoping that she can hear and respond to my voice.  Sometimes she does and sometimes she doesn't.  She is always happy, always looking for a thumbs up, always smiling, and always cheering on her team.  She has the greatest personality.  If only she was playing against her brother because I know then that her aggressive side would come out.

Thank you Grandpa and Grandma for coming up to watch the kids while we went out last night and for coming to Adeline's game.
I love my girl.

Ten Years!

Ten years ago today I married my best friend.  That day in front of 400 plus people and before God we made a commitment, not to just stay together but to love each other and put the others needs first.  To grow together, to learn together, and to become a family.  We have a home that we love.  We live in a great neighborhood.  We belong to an amazing church.  And we have been blessed with two beautiful children.  We are grateful.

So, not expecting anything (because we plan to go to NY in August) I was very surprised when James gave me this ring.  The ring is a custom made white gold band with two amethyst's (representing James and I) surrounded by two clusters of diamonds (representing our two kids).  I was caught off guard and a little worried as to how James paid for it.  This is the best part.....with our late Aunt Polly's jewelry that she bought off of HSN, James (with the permission of his parents), took stones from two rings that have been on consignment at a local jeweler and made this ring.  It gets even better with when he came to pay they told him that they actually owed him $100.00.  This was because there were still scraps from the old rings and the gold.  So I got a beautiful ring (with my birthstone) to represent our ten years together and we didn't have to pay anything.  God is good.
We enjoyed a wonderful dinner with amazing live music at Portobello's in Grand Haven....and then we turned in for the night (if you know what I mean).
I'm so thankful for the past ten years of marriage and looking forward to many, many more.
I love you James.

Painting our nails

For the past couple of months Adeline has been biting her nails.  I tried to tell her that if she would stop biting them then I would paint them but not until then.  Then I thought that maybe the opposite would work.  So here we go.....we are painting the nails to see if  she will no longer bite them since they look so pretty.  Andrew needed to be included so I went with a clear nail polish for him.

It's been a month since I took this picture and Adeline no longer bites her nails.  I am very proud of her!

Waffle House Return Trip

This time everyone was healthy and was able to enjoy their waffle.  And can you believe that we stopped at the exact same Waffle house last year.

Time to go home........

Thank you Sarasota for another wonderful vacation.  We'll see you next year.
Now it's time to drive 22 hours back to Michigan.

Mother's Day

I had a wonderful Mother's Day.  I had a nice morning run, was taken out to breakfast, and then spent the afternoon on the beach.  Now I knew that we had to pack up, clean the house, finish the laundry, and say good-bye to the house...but with no time constraints I was able to enjoy the afternoon.
First thing in the morning though we had to say good-bye to Aunt Betsey and Aunt Joanne.  This was really hard.  I don't know.....just hard to think that we won't see Betsey until Thanksgiving.  Adeline was holding on to her on the couch saying "don't go".  Joanne was crying, which made me cry.  When they drove away I witnessed Adeline for the first time showing emotion where she recognized she was not going to see Betsey for awhile.  She cried.  Hard.  James just held on to her until she started to feel better.
It was a wonderful week.  It went by way too fast.  Time to get back to reality.

Picture's on Aunt Betsey's phone

Lost photo's.....these were some that were pulled off of Betsey's phone and I couldn't go without posting.

Dinner and Ice Cream

We went to Panara Bread for dinner and the kids both ordered Macaroni.  Adeline wanted to have ketchup with hers and then acted like she was going to get sick each time she took a bite.  And then when she was done she said how good it was and wanted more.  Andrew as you can see still had some in his mouth while he was smiling for the picture.

Once everyone finally finished their food we headed for ice cream.
Almost ten years of marriage with this guy.
The kids with Aunt Betsey....so sad that this is our last night.
All the girls together.
....and then one with Andrew
And of course we have to take a picture of the kids with the famous ice cream cone.
