Starting our own Christmas traditions....

Every year we travel back home to celebrate Christmas Eve with my Grand Parents and then Christmas Day with James' family. Now that Adeline is getting older we are wanting to start our own traditions. It wouldn't make sense to drive down for Christmas Eve then back home and then back to Olivet for Christmas day. So this year we decided to celebrate our Christmas on Monday since James had the day off. It was a very special day. We were very busy all day opening presents, going to see Santa, eating lunch and dinner out, shopping, playing with Adeline's new toys, making/decorating cookies, and enjoying each others company. Here are some snapshots....

Adeline was really excited about seeing Santa but when we got to him he didn't fulfill our expectations. He didn't talk to her, he was just focused on getting her on his lap smiling for the picture and then moving on to the next child. She didn't cry, scream, or try to get up....she was just sad. As Adeline put it afterwards..."Santa didn't say Ho, Ho, Ho" And I thought to myself "He didn't say anything, what a grumpy Santa"

Forget Santa...Daddy's lap is much more comfortable.

The Bean's love Christmas. Awesome tradition you started. Tell Addy to call Uncle Josh and he will say "Ho ho ho!" MERRY CHRISTMAS guys.
God Bless

AWW....

:(

I think that Grinchy Santa's beard is real - and someone oughtta give it a good yank.

Still, her expression is adorable, and it's great to see how much fun the rest of the day was!

Merry Christmas, Beans!

My feelings were similar about *this* santa when Maya first met him. I totally forgot about this on the phone the other day, sorry! On the day Maya first met him, he seemed nice and inviting....until it was her turn to see him. He didn't really look at her or talk to her. He seemed completely...distracted, disinterested, and rushed. However, in Santa's defence...he did explain to us that he tries not to look really little ones right in the face...as they often get scared (and ruin the picture).
But as a parent you're just excited for her to have this great experience...and you feel like, 'he is TOTALLY gonna love *my* child'...that he will just be struck by how adorable she is. That they will hit-it-off, and he will make this magical memory for her....

We haven't been back to see him since Maya's first Christmas. And now...I remember why! :)

Happily, Maya has long forgotten this disappointing visit...and is more than ever enamored with Santa who shook her hand at the Symphony and smiled at her in the mall.

It looks like you had a really fun day. Miss you!

I'm glad you had a good Christmas even though Santa was a dork.
Have a wonderful New Year. I miss you.
