First Grade Orientation

This time when we went into the school we got to meet Adeline's teacher Mrs. Ralston, see old classmates, meet new classmates, check out the the classroom, and get familiar again with the school.
Adeline sitting in her very own desk!  We filled it with her pencil box (full of pencils), crayons, glue sticks, and markers.
#3 for Bean
Adeline with her teacher Mrs. Ralston.
A benefit to being the younger brother and coming along.....(you get candy too)
We made a special stop to Adeline's Kindergarten classroom.  Adeline was so excited to see Mrs. Coffin.  Mrs. Coffin said that she thought of Adeline all summer because her daughters were into watching Rapunzel in Tangled.  Adeline gave her a big hug before we left with no prompting from Mommy.
My little first grader...
and her cute little brother.

We thought it was time for a trim....

Both Adeline and Andrew got hair cuts today.  This is Adeline's second trim in her whole life.  Amanda (the hairdresser) had her stand up instead of sit in the chair because her hair was so long.  We took off about an  inch or maybe a little over.

And her hair looks very healthy and beautiful.

And this......

....completes my summer :)
The picture I have been waiting for.  If only I could freeze time.

Our last official beach day!

Trying to get the right angle.  Took a couple of times but I think we got it.
Today is the last day at the beach for the kids and I.  Tomorrow the kids go with Grandma and Grandpa for four days and James and I go to New York for our ten year anniversary trip.  When we get back it will be off to school for Adeline and back to reality for me.

I LOVE my babies!
Thank you kiddo's for making this summer so much fun!

Off to see the dentist before school starts....

Check-up and cleaning for two smiling kids!
Their favorite part was the "treasure" box at the end.
Good job Adeline and Andrew for being such good patients and for staying so still.

Last Beach Day with the Morse family

Last beach day, last beach day....not every one gets to have so many beach days where they can post last beach day.  We are just so blessed to live so close to the water and to have friends who enjoy it too.  Thanks for the fun times Morse family!

North Muskegon State Park

This is a very fun and very nice beach by where the Corbin's just moved.  It was beautiful weather with the right amount of sun and a nice breeze that kept all of us comfortable..
This is the last I saw of these two shovels.  Unfortunately they were left behind.  Good thing summer is almost over.  We'll need to get new shovels for next year.

 The girls (minus Lauren)
Whenever Carter was having a moment we just got him the bag of sun chips and he was content.

First Grade Class List

Today is the day that we go to the school and find out who Adeline's teacher is.  Daddy had the day off so we all took a family walk.
Adeline is in Mrs. Ralston's class with many of her schoolmates from last year.
Here she is.....our soon to be first grader.
The school was open so we went inside to find where her classroom was.  Right away we spotted the bright orange door with Adeline's name on it.
And then of course Andrew needed his picture taken also.  He is so excited for when it's going to be his time to start school.

Angry Birds

To say Andrew likes Angry Birds is and understatement.  Andrew LOVES Angry Birds.  It all started with either Joanne's Ipad or Betsey's Iphone.  Either way he can't seem to get enough of them.  The funny thing is that he hasn't played Angry birds in a couple of months but where ever we go we see them.
When I was at the store getting Adeline her Hello Kitty underwear I spotted some Angry Birds underwear too.  I couldn't resist.  When I was giving Adeline her underwear Andrew interrupted and said with a disgruntled voice "Hey! I want Angr......"  At this time I pulled out his underwear.  And he shrieked with excitement.  Mommy scored big points with these.
The next day at church I had to stop him from pulling down his pants and showing everyone his underwear.

BOOM!

Hello Kitty

Well, I did it.  I sewed my first dress!  I have never sewn before but have been encouraged watching my sister in law take it on and do a fabulous job.  It will probably take a long time until I reach her level of sewing.  Adeline and I went to Joann's and picked out the fabric (which was on sale), and then I picked up a pattern, scissors, measuring tape, and pins.
For church in the morning I had Adeline's dress hanging, with her Hello Kitty jewelry (from a party a couple of years ago) waiting for her.  She was very excited.  She has worn the dress many days now and loves it!
A big thank you to my mother in law for answering all of my questions and for staying up late with me trying to figure out my sewing machine, it really meant a lot.

Sailing

Grandma and Grandpa Bean came up for the night to take the kids sailing.  Grandpa's plan is each year as they get older and learn to swim better he will take them further and further out.  Unfortunately it wasn't windy enough to go very far (even for us adults), but it was fun and the kids had a great time.  Thank you Grandma and Grandpa!

Hey 5k

The morning after going to a fun concert I ran my second 5k listening to Need To Breathe.  My friend Cindy signed me up for the Hey 5k, which is actually run by Hey Radio, a Christian station. (too much leap frog in our car not enough radio).  It was pretty neat to pray before the race began (that is as a whole group, because I am ALWAYS praying before the gun goes off).    James, his parents, Erin and the kids made it just in time, to see me cross the finish line.  So fun to have a cheering section.  I ran the 5k in 24:33, a 7:55 minute mile average and :11 seconds off my last 5k time.  I even came in 3rd in my age division
Thank you husband for always building me up and encouraging me.  I don't know what I ever did to deserve you.  But I'm glad you're mine.
Thank you kiddo's for being my #1 fans.
A special thanks to Adeline who came to cheer me on even though she didn't feel so well.
Thank you family for supporting me in something I love to do.
Thank you friend for the special bond we share in Christ.  And for the days every week we get to workout together....I look forward to each one of them.
I think I had a little too much speed left at the end.
Next 5k I run I'm going to actually train for it and I better be knocking off more than :11 seconds.
Cindy blew away her last time and came in 7th in our age division.  Good Job Cindy!

Need To Breathe

It has been seven years since we were last at Unity.  When we heard that Need To Breathe would be playing, there wasn't a doubt in our minds that we would be there.  Grandma and Grandpa Bean came up so generously to watch the kids.  And an added bonus was that Erin also loves Need To Breathe and drove all the way up to go to the concert with us.  So as we went to purchase our tickets two men walked up at different times offering their extra tickets for FREE.  This probably only happens at a christian concert but we were so thankful to see God provide.
It was a cooler weekend and actually rained all day but for the entire concert there was no rain.
Al and Karrie were there so we got to hang out with them and their kids.
Once the concert started Erin and I went up front.  We had the perfect position, center stage.  Erin was SO looking forward to the concert and I was so glad she was there.  We had a lot of fun together.  James actually stayed back with Al and Karrie so it was just Erin and I up front.
Fun concert pictures below.  It isn't often that you hear a band live and they sound even better than their cd.  This was one very enjoyable night.
