Sweet Adeline

...my sweet Adeline came down with some virus as quickly as I can snap my fingers. Last night before dinner while we were coloring at the table she said that she needed to go to the bathroom. James took her and while she was going she started to vomit. I was quickly called upstairs, gave her a bath and cleaned up the bathroom. Adeline continued to shake and carried a temperature of 102 (under the arm). She threw up three more times before going to bed and her entire body continued to be extremely hot. I was finally able to get some Tylenol down her this morning before we went to the Doctors and she seemed to really perk up. At the Doctors she didn't even have a temp....I thought we were free and clear. But, as soon as we got home she started to shut down. I checked her temp. and it is back up to 102. She was able to keep down some toast and water, which is good. She tested negative for the flu at the office but has swollen glands.
She is now sound asleep in bed. She NEVER falls asleep while I am reading to her. She always asks/begs for just one more book. Just a couple of minutes ago she was out by time I was half way through the first book. I hope this rest does her good. I am just always afraid of her having another seizure.
I don't know which is harder...watching Adeline when she was really little throwing up, or watching her stand at the toilet with tears running down her face, having her tell you how bad she feels.
Please pray for her to get better and for our family, that no one else gets sick (especially Andrew).

Uncle John John is married!

Saturday we all shared in a very special event when my baby brother John was married. The day before I was a wreck, crying off and on realizing that my "Big John" was really a Big John and that he wasn't really MY big John but someone else's. It is no secret that I am very protective of my brother when it comes to who he chooses to date let alone marry. We have been very blessed to have Candy come into our lives and in John's life. They really compliment each other well. Candy is a very generous person and very personable. She fits right in and accepts each of us as her family as we have accepted her.

The wedding was fast (which was good considering we had a 3 year old and 6 month old). The reception was beautiful with great food and fun music. John looked very handsome and happy and Candy look gorgeous. We had a great time celebrating with everyone. I enjoyed seeing many of John's old buddies from childhood all grown up. Adeline especially enjoyed herself, playing with Michael, dancing with Michael...pretty much just being with Michael. She is such an extrovert (just like her Daddy), no worries, just wants to have fun. I love it.

So both of these videos need explanations!

#1 This video is of Andrew feeding himself a corn puff. What you hear in the background is Adeline crying because she is in time out. I couldn't pass on the video because it is so cute and lately it seems as though Adeline is always in time out or getting a spanking so this is probably what you would hear at any other time.

#2 This video is of Andrew standing at his table. He loves it and stands longer each time. He is even close to pulling himself up. I do promise that when you see him fall I catch his head. Funny how the pillows are in one place and he chooses to fall in another.

Bike ride cancelled

Throughout the summer James' parents have many bike rides planned. Originally this past weekend they were going to stay Saturday night and ride Sunday. They decided that since they haven't been to our church much they would not ride and go to church with us Sunday morning. They also offered to watch the kids so that James and I could go out to dinner which was really nice. Aunt Betsey and JoAnn were also able to make the trip which made it even more fun. It's nice seeing Aunt Betsey more now since she is no longer in Iowa but in Detroit.

Addy and Alex

I love watching Adeline form relationships. Alex is a little girl who lives a couple of houses down the road and comes down to play every so often. Last night the project was making mud. They spent the whole evening going back and forth from the pool to the sand box.

Amelia Bedelia

This has been one of our favorite books to read in the last few weeks. Amelia Bedelia goes to work for Mr. and Mrs. Rogers and is left all alone with a list of things to do. The list tells her to do things like, draw the drapes, dust the furniture, put out the lights. Amelia Bedelia takes everything at face value and literally draws the drapes on paper, pours dusting powder all over the furniture, and hangs all the lights outside. When Mr. and Mrs. Rogers come home and realize what Amelia Bedelia has done they are very upset. But before Mrs. Rogers tells her she is fired Mr. Rogers sticks a piece of Lemon Meringue pie into her mouth. It was so good that Mr. and Mrs. Rogers decided Amelia Bedelia could stay as long as she made Lemon Meringue pie.

So..Addy and I decided to make our own Lemon Meringue pie. An added bonus is that Grandpa Bean loves Lemon Meringue pie and he came up for the weekend. Unfortunately I forgot to take pictures of us making the pie and the finished pie but here is a picture of a slice. It turned out pretty good. We also made an apple pie for Daddy because Adeline thinks James loves them. He actually doesn't like pie at all but she wouldn't listen to me. "YES HE DOES LIKE APPLE PIE!" is what she would say. We had two yummy homemade pies for the weekend. I really enjoy baking and cooking with Adeline she was all about the cookbook reading off all of the ingredients.

It's official...

All of my efforts have failed. I am trying not to take offense to it. I still say he doesn't know what he is actually saying. But none the less. Andrew is a big boy. He had his six month appointment today and weighs 21.2 pounds and is 28 1/4 inches long.
